William Burleson is a Minnesota STD/HIV prevention educator, activist, and writer. He is the author of Bi America: Myths, Truths, and Struggles of an Invisible Community, a book about the bisexual community and the bisexual experience. Burleson is a regular speaker and workshop facilitator at college campuses, workplace LGBT groups, conferences, events, and community groups. Current writing projects include As The Bill Tolls, a regular column for Lavender Magazine in Minneapolis, writing for Lambda Literary Review, and writing essays about bisexuality for various GLBT publications and electronic newsletters. Past projects include serving as one of the founders of the Bisexual Organizing Project, a Minnesota advocacy and support organization, twice coordinating BECAUSE: the Midwest Conference on Bisexuality, and co-founding and producing for five years the weekly Minneapolis cable access television show, BiCities! Burleson works in public health fighting HIV and STDs. In the past he has worked in the community for the Red Door Clinic, an STD clinic, doing HIV testing, counseling, and facilitating support groups. More recently, Burleson has been employed in STD policy, advocating for gay and bi men's health. Burleson has been active in the non-profit sector on a volunteer basis. He is current a board director for PFund, a GLBT foundation, serving on the Grants and Programming committee. In the past he served as Vice-Chair for the Men's Center, a social service agency, where he founded a support group for bisexual men.
